City Council

The second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm in the City Hall Annex located at 1140 12th Avenue, Sweet Home, OR 97386. |

Any qualified elector who has resided in the City for at least one year may be nominated for City Council by one of the following ways: File a petition with 10-20 signed electors signatures that can be verified by the County OR sign a declaration of candidacy and pay a $10.00 fee to the City at the time of filing. Both options must be done no earlier than 100 days and no later than 64 days before the election date. |

Each subsequent biennial general election, four City Councilors shall be elected. The three receiving the highest number of votes shall hold office for four years and the person with the fourth highest vote total will receive a two year term. |

People wishing to travel abroad can pick up an application in our office at City Hall or go directly to the State Department website and fill out an application online, print it off and bring it in to our office for processing. State Department Website |
Police

If it's an emergency, Dial 911. Otherwise, call the SHPD non-emergency dispatch center(24 hour) 541-367-5181. The dispatch center will take your information and dispatch an officer or will connect you with a specific individual within the department. |

The Sweet Home Police Department has 24 hour police coverage, seven days a week. The Police Services Building is also manned 24/7. |

The Sweet Home Police Department will provide a free gun lock to owners. These locks are available at the Police Services Building. |

If the accident has blocked a roadway or created any hazard to yourself or others, you should call the police. However,provided that no one is injured and you have exchanged information with the other parties involved, you are not required to notify the police. If there is an injury or the vehicle damage exceeds $1500.00 you must file an accident report with DMV. Many police reports are available for purchase. For more information go to the Police Records link. There are certain reports that cannot be released, these include any open investigations or investigations relating to child or elder abuse. |
